Mark-Henning is an artist living a dual existence; by day working amongst the suits as a database managing corporate whore, but by night shedding his tie and cufflinks to become a subversive underground sound sculptor with an insatiable craving for bleeps and noises. He is also co-responsible for clevermusic.net - an interweb music zine and mp3 label for those who share a love of minimal techno and weird house music - and the organisation of London-based parties. Born in 1977 to English and German parents, he has spent most of his life in England, though has never forgotten his German 'techno' roots and recently spent a few years living in Berlin and Cologne. Inspired by a whole range of music (from Dan Bell to Dinosaur Jr. to Ed Rush & Optical), Mark-Henning's current musical direction has settled around the more minimal, bleepy side of house & techno as championed by the likes of DBX, Richie Hawtin, Mike Ink, Matt Dear etc... He is resident DJ at the Clever Music parties in London alongside Alex Stephen, and has played at parties across the UK, in Europe and the US. A keen follower of new technology, Mark utilizes the likes of Final Scratch, Traktor and Ableton Live when he plays out, preferring to surprise his audience with his own tracks and those that are not part of the usual bag played out week-in week-out.Mark has established himself as a player in the minimal house & techno scene over the last year with successful releases on Freude am Tanzen, Frankie and Milnor Modern. Further EPs on Foundsound and Einmaleins in 2006 will follow. With DJ support from the likes of Akufen, John Tejada, Richie Hawtin, DJ Koze & Steve Bug to name just a few, and a busy 'extracurricular' schedule in 2006, Mark might even be able to give up his heavy day job one day soon!
